Guess what!
It's my ONE YEAR blogoversary!!!!
Ok. It was technically yesterday on the 27th but I am a procrastinator and it's hard to find time to be on the computer and read and whatnot while I'm living on an island for the summer :( I basically spend every night hanging out with my friends in the rec room playing pool or ping pong and socializing until 3am! I also started learning how to shoot a bow and arrow! I feel like Katniss and I love it!
So anyways, it's so crazy to think that I've actually kept up with a blog for this long! I started Unraveling Books because my sister was always listening to me talk about books and movies and she kept saying "You need to have a review blog!" and I chose books. I started looking for book blogs and found Anna Reads! Anna is the reason I started blogging and I like that she doesn't have in-depth reviews either because then it doesn't make me feel so bad when I can't express my thoughts. I think my reviews have gotten a little bit better and I'm glad that I have the followers that I have :) I hope to keep up with this blog for another year and experience more book events!
Speaking of book events...when I went to Wordstock last year (check out my super long post about it HERE), I met Jessica Brody in person (FINALLY) and she let me email her some questions to answer which I have decided to share as part of this celebration! Then there will be my very first GIVEAWAY!!
If you were a city, which city would you be?
Well, Paris is my favorite city but I definitely don’t think
I’m cool enough to actually BE Paris. I’d probably just be a small town in the
South somewhere. You know the kind that has one big annual festival and then
pretty much keeps to itself the rest of the year.
Motto you live by?
Jump and the net will
appear.
Most memorable fan encounter?
Every encounter with a fan touches me, to be honest. But
there was this one reader in Brazil who had read a bunch of my books and had
come up to me at an event and thanked me for thanking my readers in the
acknowledgements of each of my books. Before that I didn’t think anyone had
noticed that I did that. She actually started to cry a little, saying how much
it meant to her. And then I started crying. And the whole thing had to be done
with a translator so it was kind of comical on top of everything. But I’ll
never forget it.
What new release are you most looking forward to reading in
2014?
Jandy Nelson’s new book, I’LL GIVE YOU THE SUN. Her first
book, THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE is one of my all-time favorites. I simply can’t
WAIT for this one!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you
go?
I’d love to go to Asia. I’ve never been!
What’s a book you’ve read that you wish you wrote?
THE HUNGER GAMES by Suzanne Collins. And not just because
then I’d be like super rich. But because I think it’s one of the most perfectly
plotted books. And I’m a plot girl!
What’s the book and/or author you recommend most to people?
If they haven’t yet read it I push ELEANOR AND PARK on
everyone who walks and breathes. It’s such an amazing read. I’m so excited that
the film rights were picked up. I think it’ll make a very touching movie as
well.
I have read them and loved them!!! They really take me away when I am reading them :)
ReplyDeleteI really want to read her Unremembered series! Thank you for this amazing giveaway! :)

ReplyDeleteCongratulation with the blogoversary. :)
ReplyDeleteI have read all of Jessica Brody's YA books, and I've loved them all. I'm so impressed by her ability to juggle two genres, contemporary and science fiction, so successfully. Congratulations on your one year of blogging, and thanks for the giveaway! Today's my two year blog birthday (and I'm also hosting a giveaway), so we're *this* close to being birthday twins. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't but I'm looking forward because my friends said they were good. Thanks for the chance and happy blogoversary!
