Synopsis:
Since the age of ten, Mia has lived under the iron fist of the fundamentalist preacher who lured her mother away to join his fanatical family of followers. In Edenton, a supposed “Garden of Eden” deep in the South American jungle, everyone follows the Reverend’s strict but arbitrary rules—even the mandate of whom they can marry. Now sixteen, Mia dreams of slipping away from the armed guards who keep the faithful in, and the curious out. When the rebellious and sexy Gabriel, a new boy, arrives with his family, Mia sees a chance to escape.
But the scandalous secrets the two discover beyond the compound’s façade are more shocking than anything they ever imagined. While Gabriel has his own terrible secrets, he and Mia bond together, more than friends and freedom fighters. But is there time to think of each other as they race to stop the Reverend’s paranoid plan to free his flock from the corrupt world? Can two teenagers crush a criminal mastermind? And who will die in the fight to save the ones they love from a madman who’s only concerned about his own secrets?Purchase: Amazon /// Barnes & Noble (Note: This book is on sale for only $1.99 for Kindle users until January 31!)
My review:
Escape From Eden was SO SO SO GOOD - the description mentions scandalous secrets and boy there are so many crazy secrets! I have never read a book like this before because I usually stick to my fluffy, happy books but I am so glad I read this one! From the moment I started I just did not want to put it down! I wanted to keep reading to find out what was really going on in Edenton! Once I found out what was going on, I was terrified. It was like a movie - just a really fast paced, edge of your seat thriller that kept you wondering how or if Mia would escape. I'm not exactly religious and anything that features religion kind of freaks me out and makes me hesitant to read it but the way it was incorporated in here was perfect and so creepy! I loved Mia and Gabriel and all of the other characters. Gabriel was such a smartass and I LOVED IT. I really just honestly had no issues with this book, I enjoyed every bit of it! I just wish I could share spoilers because I really want to talk about all of the crazy secrets! And I just so badly want to share something that Gabriel said at the end of the book because it's so flippin' CUTE.

I love these kinds of gritty, honest books once in a while. They're dark and scary and that's my go-to genre haha. I grew up reading true crime books and adult mysteries. I really have to give this one a try!
