Being Sloane Jacobs - Lauren Morrill

"I wish to be somebody - anybody - else."

Summary: A hockey player and a figure skater both running from their lives decide to switch places.

First, I want to say how frickin' excited I was that I got approved to read this from Netgalley! Morrill's first book Meant To Be took the number one spot as my favorite book read in 2013 (you can read my fangirl review HERE) so I had really high expectations for this book as it was my most anticipated for 2014. Unfortunately this book wasn't a hit for me! I'm so bummed that I want to cry because I really wanted to love it! I gave it 3 stars on Goodreads and it will get a 7 out of 10 on here even though it was just meh for me. Here are the things I did like: the cover (it's so pretty!), Matt, figure skating, and the writing. One thing I think Lauren proves is that she is a really good writer! I just didn't think this book was cute or funny like MTB. My favorite part was when Sloane Emily pulled the fire alarm to prove to Matt that she can be adventurous. That made me laugh! And I do like both of the girls and liked seeing them grow throughout the book! This book reminded me a lot of the ABC Family show Make It Or Break It even though that show was gymnastics. I guess I was just hoping that this book was just going to be as cute and aw-inducing as MTB. Even though this one wasn't a hit for me, I do still think everyone should try it and try Meant To Be as well! And I will definitely continue to read anything Lauren puts out because she is awesome!

Meant To Be - Lauren Morrill

"Point is, maybe some people wouldn't want to be around me all day, but there are people out there who would. And they're smart and funny. And they like some of the same things I like and hate some of the things I hate, but they also introduce me to all kinds of new things. That's as close to 'meant to be' as I can imagine."

Summary: Julia is on a class trip to London where she is forced to be buddies with Jason who she hates. After a night of rule breaking, Julia starts receiving texts from a secret admirer...is it her MTB?

THIS BOOK. OMG. When I finished it, I was literally in tears and wanted to jump around my living room and scream with joy! For this review I think it would be better to just list the things I liked...Jason, London, Jason, rule breaking, Jason, Shakespeare, and oh yeah, JASON. Normally I probably would hate a character like him but I was hooked on him from the beginning. This book was laugh out loud funny and had me at this description of Jason's immaturity on the flight to London when there's extreme turbulence: "Jason's got his arms raised like he's on a roller coaster." He is seriously just the craziest, cutest guy ever. And he sings! I love how he always calls Julia 'Book Licker!' I highlighted so many Jason moments on my Nook and one of my favorites was when he gets Julia a replacement of her Shakespeare book that she lost. I DIED. There is also a really cool twist that I actually wasn't able to figure out that I don't want to spoil so GO READ THIS BOOK :)
