It's Horror October!

Hi everyone! I am sooo happy that it's finally October!!! It's my favorite month (besides December) and this month I am participating in Leanne's Horror October! All month long those of that have signed up will be posting whatever we want related to horror. It can be games, recipes, movie or book related topics. I am going to be coming up with some games for you to participate in as well as some lists of some sort. For this first post, read on to find out all about my relationship with horror! :)

I know this is a book blog but honestly, I don't have a relationship with horror books. The scariest books I've read are R.L. Stine's Fear Street series. I loved those books so much growing up and I still do! But I do have a major relationship with horror movies! And since it's officially October, my sister and I will be celebrating all month long by watching a horror movie every night (starting with Scream 1 tonight!). I started watching scary movies when I was at least 5 years old....I was young! My dad is really big on scary movies, so when I couldn't sleep at night, I would get up and watch a movie with him. It was anything from Leprechaun to From Dusk Til' Dawn. I don't know how my mom never found out sooner, but I was able to get away with it until I saw the first Final Destination movie in '99 or whenever it came out. I don't know why that movie scared me but it did and mom was like "why are you so scared to go out in the living room by yourself?" Haha. So she found out but I kept on watching. I am kind of a complex person though, so when someone asks me my favorite movie, I say it's A Walk to Remember or Titanic. BUT, when someone asks my favorite genre, it's horror.

I do want to keep as much of this Horror October event book related as I can when I do the games and lists, but there might be the occasional movie thing thrown in to mix it up.

If you just read all of that, tell me: what is your relationship with horror (whether it's movies or books)? :)

  1. Oooh a horror movie every night sounds like so much fun! There are tons of recent ones I need to catch up on, and could always use an excuse to rewatch a favorite. I have a bit of the same backstory as you - my dad got me into watching horror when I was young as well. :) And I loved all the R.L. Stine books! If I have time I'm going to post something specfically about him this month.

  3. R.L. Stine wrote some terrifying stuff.... watching and reading Goosebumps was such a big part of my childhood, but I remember how scary even just the opening credits were!

  4. I love R.L. Stine too! Some of the Goosebump/Haunting Hour episodes are so creepy (Slappy the dummy. Oh, my goodness.) But I'm actually not really a horror person when it comes to movies (or books, really). I can't even watch horror movie trailers without freaking out! I'm such a baby when it comes to horror but I thought it'd be fun to freak myself out this month, lol. :P

  5. I love games and lists! I look forward to see what you come up with :)
R.L. Stine introduced me to horror as well as a kid. I loved his books. Though now I try to avoid his books. I don't want my happy memories of them to be tarnished. I hear his newer YA Horror books are ... very bad.
