Summer Lovin' 13 Read-A-Thon (Day 7)

I am so sad that today is the FINAL day of the Summer Lovin' 13 Read-A-Thon! I had SO much fun this week! Yesterday I participated in the 24hr thon (I lasted for 14 hours!) and even won a a book of my choice! I chose Georgetown Academy (Season One) and am so excited to start reading it! Here were my accomplishments this week:

BOOKS FINISHED:
Slated by Teri Terry
Marked (House of Night Book 1) by P.C. & Kristin Cast

I participated in all of the participation posts and challenges!

I also discovered lots of new blogs and bloggers and made new friends!
(FrancineJessEmma SnowMeaganAngieNikkiStephanie and MORE!)

Even though I didn't read that much, I am most happy about meeting everyone!

ALSO, a HUGE thank you to all of the hosts:

Challenge Post: Guess the book based off of the snippet of cover given! (Here are my guesses!)

Summer Lovin' 2013 Read-A-Thon (Day 6)

It's Day 6 of the Summer Lovin' RaT! Crazy it's almost over! Today is the 24 hour read-a-thon with a Twitter party! Yay! My sister is the best and is working for me so that I can participate! (I so owe her!) Each hour there is going to be a trivia question and a chance to win a prize (I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping I win something!)

Participation Post: Discuss which bad boy(s) make your heart go pitter patter.

Okay, so I LOVE THIS TOPIC. I love the bad boys and my favorite one is Daemon Black from Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux series!

I just can't you guys. Daemon is so HOT. Pepe is the perfect cover model for Daemon! He's the baddest bad boy I've read in quite some time, definitely the one that stands out the most! I really don't even know how to describe why he's my favorite. He's just so PERFECT. I wish he was real! For a movie, this is who I would pick to play Daemon:

Yeah....so....that's Alex Pettyfer. He's known by some people as the 'bad boy' in Hollywood. I hear he's hard to work with and whatnot but LOOK AT HIM. SO HOT. I think he'd be the perfect Daemon!

Challenge Post: What fictional character would you have a fling with?
This whole post is going to be about the same character so my answer is going to have to be Daemon Black :)

Summer Lovin' 2013 Read-A-Thon (Day 5)

Today's participation post is for me to tell you how the RaT has gone so far. Well, my original goals were to finish Slated and The 5th Wave (both books were ones I had already previously started) and then to read some new ones sitting in my TBR pile. Good news, I finish Slated. Bad news, I haven't finished anything else yet. I did continue reading some of The 5th Wave, but I just wasn't feeling it this week. Because of that, I did get to finally start the House of Night vampire series starting with Marked (book 1). I am really glad I did because I am loving it so far!! The characters are so great and it's a really interesting take on vampires! I will hopefully finish that book by Sunday so then I'll have read two books.

As far as the participation posts and challenge posts go, I have taken part in all of them so far. Then I get sidetracked looking at everyone else's awesome posts and don't get much reading done lol. But it's been fun getting to talk to new bloggers and participate that I'm kind of okay with the fact that I haven't read that much!

How's this week been for you? Let me know in the comments! I'd love to hear about it!

Summer Lovin' 2013 Read-a-Thon (Day 4)

Happy 4th of July!! I can't believe it's already DAY 4 of this RaT! Yikes! It's gone by so fast! I've got 200 pages left in Marked so hopefully I can finish that by Saturday and start at least one more book! Now, let's get to today's participation post and challenge!

Participation Post:
Share a quote from your current read or share a book that really pulled at your heart strings.
This was actually pretty easy for me! I chose...

Synopsis: Ronnie is sent to Wilmington to live with her father (who she is angry with) for the summer. While there Ronnie learns some shocking news about her father, falls in love for the first time and more.
Please don't continue reading if you do not want spoilers!
Ronnie's dad is dying. I forget from what but I remember crying and being so sad when I was reading Ronnie talking about how her dad wouldn't be around to walk her down the aisle when she got married. This is the part that has always stood out to me because it just made me think of my dad and how he has to be around forever so he can do that for me! I don't get to see my dad that much since we live in different states and so reading that book specifically just made me cry. Luckily though I have a good relationship with my dad! Oh, and then when Ronnie finishes her dad's song that he had been working on and plays their "last song." I died. SO SAD. Everyone needs to read this book! The movie was one of the worst I have ever seen and Miley really ruined it for me. I say, don't even see the movie just read the book!
2nd Place: Destined (Book 4 of Wings) by Aprilynne Pike
3rd Place: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

Challenge Post:
Book Spine Poetry. Create a poem of any topic or length, using the titles on the book spine. Take a photo of them all stacked and post it! Here is my poem! (My sister even helped me. We spent like an hour on this!)
 Into the Wild Hollywood Hills,
Beneath the glitter,
The A-List.
Reckless.
Adored.
This Lullaby (of) Flawless Sweet Little Lies.
The Fame Game.

Summer Lovin' 2013 Read-a-Thon (Day 3)

It's Day 3 of the Summer Lovin' Read-a-Thon! I am sad to say I haven't gotten much reading done. I started reading some more of The 5th Wave yesterday but just wasn't into it so I started Marked (House of Night Book 1) by P.C. and Kristin Cast. I really like it so far! I pretty much have work the rest of the week and am bummed that I most likely won't really get to participate in the 24hour Thon this weekend :( This post is very text heavy this time so let's get going!

Today's participation post is: Favorite Fictional Females. Who is my favorite and what makes her so awesome? Well, this was really hard for me and I still don't really have an answer. I don't think I really have a favorite female - I do have lots of favorite male characters though :) I did choose a female though and I chose Rose Hathaway from the Vampire Academy series.

I've only read the first two books so far and based off of those, I think Rose is awesome so far! I like how she fights back and stands up for herself when she can. I like how she isn't actually sleeping around with other guys even though people seem to think she does. She always has Lissa's back and they have a really good friendship. I like how she can banter and mess around with the guys, too! Her and Dimitri are so cute! Just in the first two books alone, she's already grown as a person. I especially liked seeing her go through a tragic event in the second book and seeing how she has been trying to handle herself. In regards to the movie, at first I was really upset that Zoey Deutch was playing Rose because I had recently seen Zoey in Switched at Birth and I wasn't a fan! I am more okay with the decision now but I am concerned a little that she won't portray Rose's strength as well in the movie. Zoey is a pretty small, kind of bubbly girl! But I'm excited to see how it plays out and hope they do Rose justice!

Moving onto today's challenge, the Page 99 Test. Pick a book you haven't read, turn to page 99, read that page, write a synopsis, then decide if you want to read the book based on that page.
The book:
Synopsis: Three characters - a male named Isaac and two (a male and a blonde female) unknowns are talking and munching on animal crackers. The topic of discussion is broken hearts and who broke the unknown male's heart. The blonde seems to have had her heart broken, too.
Based off of this page, I would definitely read the book! One it's about broken hearts and love. Two, I love the writing. And three, the unknown male who is telling the story seems pretty awesome! He seems really guarded and troubled which I love :)

Tell me, have you read this book? What did you think? Have you heard of it? Would you read it? Learn more HERE.

Summer Lovin' 2013 Read-A-Thon (Day 2)

Welcome to my Day 2 post!
Earlier this morning I finished Slated by Teri Terry! I had previously started it over the weekend as part of the Debut-a-Thon hosted by Books of Amber. I will be posting a review at some point today or later this week, along with a review of Nobody But Us by Kristin Halbrook which I read as part of the other Thon as well. Everyone has raved about Slated and I was disappointed to find I didn't LOVE it. It was good though. Today I am going to continue reading The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey which I had also previously started last month. I am loving that one so far!

Today's participation post is Must-Have Summer Reads where I tell you what is on my summer reads list, whether they are books I've read and recommend to others, or books I want to read. I am going to share the top 4 books I want to read that people keep telling me to read and then the top 1 book that I recommend everyone should read.

I sound like a broken record player but the one book I recommend AGAIN is:

Today's challenge is: Cover Re-Do. We pick any book and re-do the cover. (Hosted by Tumbling Books) The book I chose was:
Audition (Now, I actually like this cover but wanted to try something different that seemed to fit better to me.)
My cover:
(Sorry it's kind of hard to see!) Clearly I am not an artist - this picture is super embarrassing LOL but this was my thought: The main character is a ballerina so I wanted her to be the main focus and show her doing some fancy move. On her outfit, I put music notes and words and this is to show her two loves - ballet and writing. The book is about her figuring out who she is and discovering that she actually really likes writing and seeing what her decision will be. I made her have a straight line for a mouth like she's stuck and confused. If I added color, I'd still stick with the red she is wearing and all of the gray for the background but just plain so she's the main focus.

Summer Lovin' 2013 Read-A-Thon (Day 1)

The Summer Lovin' Read-A-Thon is FINALLY HERE! I just finished my first read-a-thon which was four days long so now I'm ready to try and tackle this one! (Signups are still open so click HERE!) I will be making a new post everyday this week starting with this one! The first task is "orientation" where I introduce myself and answer some other questions. Here we go!
My name is Michelle and I live in Oregon. I am not the biggest fan of Oregon (I've pretty much been here all my life), so I like to travel and go elsewhere. I lived in Park City, Utah for the last 2 and 1/2 years which I absolutely LOVED. I have always loved reading! Nicholas Sparks is my favorite author but anything Young Adult is my favorite. I love cliches and will read anything if there is a boy/girl romance! I started this blog back in May because my sister wanted me to. I am not great at writing (unless it involves writing for a newspaper, which is what I did in high school) but it seemed so much fun getting to create a blog where it is all about books! I've seen so many cool blogs out there! I love seeing what everyone is reading and what people have to say in their reviews! The book blogging community seems tight knit which is awesome!
So, these are the books that I want to read this week:

              TO FINISH:

              THE OTHERS:

Now I will probably actually only get through the ones under the 'To Finish' category since I work all week and won't even really get to participate in the 24-hour thon but I hope I can get through more!

Lastly, the first challenge is...TEASER TIDBITS (hosted by Shelf Addiction).
  • Grab the book you're currently reading (or recently read)
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page  NO spoilers allowed! Choose passages void of spoilers. The goal is to entice, yet not ruin the book for others!
  • Share the title & author, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!
  • Last and but not least, link up your post using the InLinkz below so that other participants can check out your post! You must link up in order to get your participation entry point! You MUST enter using the InLinkz to get your point
I am currently reading Slated by Teri Terry and here is my teaser!
"If you break the rules, try to get around the rules or even just give them a little bend, there will be consequences."
Happy reading!
