Horror October: Urban Legends

Well, Horror October is officially over today :( It's been a lot of fun and I like the ideas I came up with year. For my final post, I am sharing some of the creepiest Urban Legends out there. I love everything scary so these legends definitely freak me out. I am also superstitious - no black cats, walking under ladders, etc... and with one particular legend listed below, I won't even say the words because it scares me so bad. The Legend:

A family hires a young babysitter to watch their kids while they go out on a date. The girl starts receiving multiple phone calls until eventually she gets the police to track the calls. On the last phone call, the police inform the girl that the calls are coming from inside the house and she needs to get the kids and leave!

The Legend: 

There's different versions of this but the gist is that you go stand in front of a mirror and say "Bloody Mary" three times and then she appears in the mirror with her eyes cut out.

The Legend:

A woman is on her way home from a night out with friends. A car is following her and she panics thinking someone is trying to hurt her. The driver follows her all the way home and calls the police. He followed her because he saw a person in her backseat with a butcher knife getting ready to kill her.

The Legend:

There are two roommates and one girl goes out to party while the other stays in and studies for the big test they have. When the partier returned, it was late so she decided to not wake up her roommate. The next morning, she woke up to find her roommate dead in bed.

The Legend: "There is a legend in Japan and China about a girl called Kuchisake-Onna, also known as the slit-mouthed woman. Some say that she was a samurai’s wife. One day, she cheated on her husband with a younger and better-looking man. Some say that the woman was cursed to never die, and still wanders the world so that people can see the horrible scar on her face and pity her. Some people claim that others have actually seen a very beautiful young lady, who asked them: “Am I pretty?” And once they replied positively, she ripped off the surgical mask, and showed them her horrible wound. "The Legend:
A couple checks into a hotel and have to put up with a foul odor in their room all night. They call the staff to complain and somebody figures out the stench is coming from the bed. The staff takes off the mattress and discover the couple has been sleeping over the rotting body of a dead girl who had been stuffed in the box spring.

The Truth:
This actually happened, in Las Vegas. Also, Kansas City, MO and Atlantic City, NJ and several times in Florida and California. It makes sense if you think about it. The closet and under the bed are the two most popular places to hide just about anything, so it's not surprising a hell of a lot of corpses end up there as well. In fact, the odds are pretty good that at least once a guy has killed a prostitute, tried to stuff her under the bed, only to find there was already a body there."

PARTY GAMES IS AWESOME! Gah, what a thrill! R.L. Stine is a genius when it comes to his Fear Street series and I can't believe he wrote this new one! What Stine does best is writing the end of each chapter because most of the time each one leaves going WTF and hanging on to the edge of your seat! I mean I just can't believe how clever this story was, I never even saw any of it coming! If you're new to R.L. Stine, I would definitely start with his Fear Street series for real, clever, scares!

I've been wanting to check out more books by Gretchen McNeil ever since I read Ten which is one I really liked. Horror October seemed like the perfect time to read 3:59. I really liked this one for Gretchen's writing alone and it seemed a lot stronger then Ten. But I really thought 3:59 was supposed to be more thrilling...? For me, the book didn't become thrilling until after 200 pages. Looking back, this worked though - it was just a slow build. It was really interesting to see these two different worlds and how there were the exact same people in both but with semi different personalities (Nick is an awful human being and so is Madison). There is definitely a lot of science stuff that I did not understand at all but I think in the end, I understood the gist of the story. I still give 3:59 a high rating even though it seems like I didn't like it, but I did and I will continue to read books from Gretchen McNeil!

OH, and the book has 359 pages AND it's called 3:59. AWESOME.

Alrighty you guys...as part of Horror October, I am sharing some posts throughout the month that highlight some of my favorite episodes of Supernatural because really, who doesn't love that show? The final season I am going to cover this month is season three! Check it out!

"Bad Day at Black Rock"

I love this episode! All of the bad luck they have is HILARIOUS. AND LOOK AT SAM AND DEAN'S FACES WHEN THEY WON THE PRIZE AT THE RESTAURANT.

"A Very Supernatural Christmas"

-Favorite Quote: 

Dean: You fudging touch me again I'll fudging kill you!

-Favorite Moment:

Sam and Dean are ADORBS in this episode! I love how they celebrated Christmas and they're just the cutest brothers!

"Mystery Spot"

-Favorite Quote: 

Sam and Dean: [in unison] Right, you're a mind reader. Cut it out Sam. Sam! You think you're being funny but you're being really, really childish. Sam Winchester wears make-up. Sam Winchester cries his way through sex. Sam Winchester keeps a ruler by the bed and every morning when he wakes up- okay, enough!

-Favorite Moment:

"It was the heat of the moment..." Loved hearing that song play every time the alarm went off! And the deaths were ridiculous and funny haha!

"No Rest for the Wicked"

-Favorite Quote: 

Sam: You know if this doesn't go the way we want, I want you to know that...

Dean: Nooo, no, no, no, no, no.

Sam: No what?

Dean: You're not gonna bust out the misty goodbye speech, okay? I mean, if this is my last day on Earth, I do not want it to be socially awkward.

-Favorite Moment:

KATIE CASSIDY. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE HER! And then Lilith OMG just the greatest, creepiest kid ever! This episode is probably my favorite from the whole series! And I love the title, too!

Supernatural Season Two - Horror October 2014

Alrighty you guys...as part of Horror October, I am sharing some posts throughout the month that highlight some of my favorite episodes of Supernatural because really, who doesn't love that show? Let's check out season two!

"Everybody Loves a Clown"

-Favorite Quote: 

Sam: This isn't just anyone we're talking about, this is Dad. I know how you felt about the man.

Dean: You know what, just back off. Ok? Just because I'm not sharing and caring like you want me to.

Sam: No-no-no. That's not what this is about, Dean. I don't care how you deal with this, but you have to deal with it man! Listen I'm your brother, I just want to make sure you're ok.

Dean: Dude, I'm ok! I'm ok! Ok. I swear the next person who asks me if I'm ok, I'm gonna start throwing punches. These are your issues, quit dumping them on me.

Sam: What are you talking about?

Dean: I just think it's really interesting, this sudden obedience you have to Dad. Its like, 'Oh what would Dad want me to do.' Sam, you spent your entire life slugging it out with that man. I mean, hell, you picked a fight the last time you ever saw him. And now that he's dead, now you want to make it right. Well, I'm sorry Sam but you can't. It's too little, too late.

Sam: Why are you saying this to me?

Dean: Because I want you to be honest with yourself about this! I'm dealing with Dad's death! Are you?

The scene that I quoted above! One of Jensen Ackles best in my opinion! He was great in this whole episode! Plus creepy clowns and when Sam had to sit in the clown chair, LOL.

"Croatoan"

-Favorite Quote: 

Mark: My neighbor... Mr. Rogers...

Dean: You have a neighbor named Mr. Rogers?

Mark: Not anymore.

-Favorite Moment:

That Oregon was featured! Woot woot!

"Playthings"

-Favorite Quote: 

Dean: We gotta figure this out and fast. What did you find out about granny?

Sam: You're bossy.

Dean: What?

Sam: [says slowly] You're bossy... and short hahaha.

Dean: Are you drunk?

Sam: Yeah, so... stupid.

Dean: Dude what are you thinking, we're working a case.

Dean: How did you know?

Susan: You just look the type. So a Kingsize bed?

Sam: What no... ah no, no we're... two singles, we're just brothers.

Dean: Yeah.

Susan: Oh I'm so sorry.

-Favorite Moment:

All Sam moments! This is one of my favorite Jared Padalecki episodes! Plus he looked good! :)

"Born Under a Bad Sign"

-Favorite Quote: 

Dean: Hi, so sorry to bother you but my son snuck out of the house last night and went to a Justin Timberlake concert... What?... Uh yeah... Justin's quite the triple threat.

-Favorite Moment:

When Dean and Sam went around trying to piece everything together and figure out what happened.

"Heart"

-Favorite Quote: 

[Sam is sitting at the kitchen table at Madison's apartment.]

Madison: Do you wanna sit on the couch?

Sam: No. No, no, I'm okay.

Madison: It's more comfortable.

Sam: I'm fine.

[Madison empties a laundry basket onto the table and begins folding a pair of lacy underwear]

Sam: You know what? I think I will sit on that couch.

-Favorite Moment:

Emanuelle Vaugier! She's so evil! And I hate every character she plays but I love her! She's great in One Tree Hill, too!

"Hollywood Babylon"

-Favorite Quote: 

Sam: How’s it going in here?

Dean: It’s going really good, man. Tara has really stepped up her performance. I think it’s probably from all the sense memory stuff she’s drawing on.

Sam: Sense memory?

Dean: Yeah.

Sam: Dean, you know when I ask how it’s going here I’m talking about the case, right? We don’t really work here.

When Dean is a P.A. and when they are taking the tour around the set and they pass the Gilmore Girls set haha!

30 Tales To Give You Goosebumps - R.L. Stine

So I read nine stories out of my 30 Tales To Give You Goosebumps book (by R.L. Stine of course) and below I have given little ratings for each of them! These nine were chosen based off the titles alone and overall I was definitely not disappointed! The ratings are given by stars (1-didn't like it, 2-liked it, or 3-loved it) I don't want to give summaries since these are short stories and I don't want to give anything away but this book is so fun! My sister and I have been getting quite the kick out of reading from it this month!
